Volunteer Executive Director Job Description
(NGBA) is an all-inclusive organization dedicated to providing the LGBTQ+ community and its allies with a well-organized, supportive and welcoming sporting environment. We are committed to uniting athletes, communities, and cultures on and off the court while promoting national and international competition, providing health education and access to play the game. The NGBA offers underserved LGBTQ+ communities the resources needed to start open play, start league play, and access to tournaments hosted by the NGBA.
Job Description
The Executive Director will serve under the Board of Directors to provide supervision of the
organization and high level strategic, financial and operational management. The Executive
Director will be responsible for:
- Providing regular updates and reports to the Board of Directors, keeping them informed
of the strengths and challenges of the organization
- Developing long term organizational goals and translating them into specific annual
goals, projects, and campaigns
- Providing leadership to and managing efforts of directors and volunteers to ensure NGBA
tournaments are hosted properly
- Managing the organization’s annual budget, building sufficient cash reserves to maintain
organizational stability, and building relationships with funders to ensure revenue
targets are reached
- Developing an actionable plan for fundraising by setting and meeting aggressive annual
goals. Fostering partnerships with corporations, foundations, and individual donors
- Overseeing all external communications, including website, marketing collateral,
newsletters, and social media
- Collaborating with the board to ensure board development meets the needs of the
organization
- Ensuring the organization maintains compliance with nonprofit regulations
Desired Qualifications
- 2-5 years of experience in managing an organization or large program. Strong leadership
and staff management skills
- The ability to assess staff strengths and properly delegate tasks
- Effective interpersonal management skills & the ability to effectively develop community within the team
- Knowledge of volunteer recruitment and how to get individuals involved for the
organization’s success
- Experience organizing and running fundraising initiatives
- Knowledge of leadership and management principles for nonprofit organizations
