What first got you interested in playing basketball, and how did you find your way into the LGBTQ+ basketball community?

Basketball has always been around my family. From coming together at family reunions hooping, bothers sisters cousins. To sitting around at home watching the game on tv. My friend Jacory brought me into the LGB basketball league thru a mutual friend. Started with 4US moved to NYC pride league then on to the NGBA.

What's your favorite memory from any of the LGBTQ+ basketball tournaments you've participated in?

My first Gay Games November 2023 Guadalajara Mexico. When I tell you non stop laughter, brotherhood and bonding not only with my team but the entire league.

Which LGBTQ+ basketball player, past or present, would you most like to play one-on-one with, and why?

Derrick Gordon only cause we are around the same age and I wish I had someone that was open with me growing up maybe we could have pushed each other.

What’s your pre-game ritual or superstition that you always follow before hitting the court?

You will always see me in the gym with my headphones on. Depending on the mood will determine what song or playlist is running. Walk on the floor look, walk to center court before headed to a corner area to suit up. Always putting on shoes left first then right. Next will be my jump rope for about 10min to warm up before a full stretch then form shooting… I try my best to keep it simple but consistent.

Can you remember your very first game with an LGBTQ+ team? How did it go, and what do you remember most about it?

First game was 2016 in ATL at the 4US tournament during MLK weekend. I was playing for my friend Jacory’s team the Mavericks. Honestly it was an amazing experience. I knew it was other Gay basketball players but to discover it was an entire league with several teams was awesome. Was nervous at first but seeing and playing with like minded people allowing you to express your authentic self and then doing what we all love (basketball). What i remember most is the laughter, the smiles and feeling welcomed. Every tournament is always a hug from someone waiting and just genuinely happy to see you.

What's one piece of advice you would give to young LGBTQ+ athletes just starting out in their basketball journey?

Have Fun, be social and make friends. My first tornament I was shy and a little closed off so I missed some good opportunities but my next one I was better.
