National Gay Basketball Association Announces Change in Leadership

December 8, 2024 — The National Gay Basketball Association (NGBA) Board of Directors has made the decision to enact a change in leadership, parting ways with  Mr D. Binion, who served as president, effective August 21, 2023. The decision comes after a thorough evaluation of the organization’s direction and strategic goals.

Since March 2016, Mr. Binion has played a crucial role in the NGBA, dedicating significant time and effort to advancing the mission and objectives of the organization. The NGBA expresses sincere appreciation for Mr. Binion’s contributions during his tenure.

The decision to change leadership was not made lightly, and the NGBA Board of Directors believes it is a necessary step to ensure the continued growth and success of the organization. The Board remains committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for the LGBTQ+ community within the realm of basketball.

The NGBA extends its gratitude to Mr. Binion for his years of service and wishes him the very best in his future endeavors. The organization has selected founder Mark Chambers as interim president. He has agreed to serve in the position until the end of 2023, when the board will select a permanent president who will lead the NGBA going forward.
